What can Acupuncture Treat?
Acupuncture is a proven alternative approach to the prevention and management of diseases and the maintenance of health.
All ‘medical’ signs and symptoms are preceded by some sort of imbalance, so restoration of, or even prevention of an imbalance can avoid physical, emotional and mental problems. The potential for this or any imbalance is all around us:
- Emotions
- Nutritional factors
- Pollution
- Hereditary factors
- Trauma
- Climatic conditions
- Infections
- Poisons
Other reasons that people turn to Acupuncture include:
- To help with a problem that conventional medicine is no longer or unable to treat.
- As an adjunct to Western Medicine - for example alongside radiotherapy, chemotherapy, IVF or treatment for trauma.
- As a personal ‘MOT’ service - Acupuncture can act as a preventative treatment in order to avoid future problems through the changing seasons, cycles and phases of our lives; for a better sense of well-being and ability to cope with the dynamics of life, or to maintain a level of health
Conditions Treated
The World Health Organization (WHO) has compiled a list of diseases and conditions for which it considers Acupuncture to be safe, appropriate and effective.
Acupuncture works to rebalance the flow of Universal Life Energy, or Qi. When Qi is out of balance, it can present as a number of Western medical conditions. Those in the list below are recommended for treatment with acupuncture by The World Health Organisation.
